We’re almost beginning Month 3 of this year - that’s the last in this year's Quarter 1. It’s a good time to manage your goals to keep it on track. Here are 3 steps to manage goals: 1. ‘List it’, 2. Update Status, 3. Monitor.
Step 1: ‘List it’
So take Step 1 for example and list the goals you have. You can make it the Top 5 goals or your goals in general. Next, write them down. Then, number them in order or priority. Lastly, re-order them in the order you have prioritized them and write down the new list.
Step 2: Status Update
No, not your Facebook status ;) … Note down alongside each goal, the current status of it, then the action to be taken for it. Lastly, schedule a weekly session to note follow up from yourself or your team.
Step 3: Monitor
Plan a weekly update of status via a report to all stake holders. Plan a meeting immediately after the report is disseminated to note any follow-ups. Ensure this is done weekly or regularly at your preference, remembering though that many people tend to forget items if they do not receive a weekly reminder – it is the nature of our busy lives.
“TIP to Review”: COMMIT to once a week. A key to stay ahead of your goals is to – ‘review regularly’. The trick is to commit to yourself. You’ll be amazed how much you accomplish, just by being on top of your goals, hence your tasks per week. BONUS: your productivity improves! Consistency is key (just like going to the gym ;))
Have a great week. Til’ next week!
