Welcome to your new year - 2014! WOW a whole new beginning! Or do you feel like you're carrying over alot of 'things needing organizing' into your new year? Well, let one of your new year's resolutions be to organize them.. Let's begin!
Planning your year - Organization skills 101:
Step 1 - Goal Management/ Change manangement:
To get from where you are to where youw ant to be, all you need to do is find the 'steps' or 'tools' to take you there, and then do them., for e.g. if you were on an island aiming to get back to the mainland "or mothership as it were" how would you do it? SImple.. you'd find the quickest, easiest way for you, then get down to doing it, and getting there! So, decide where you want to be: "Your Goal" for a particular aspect of your life. Write your goals down (all goals written increase your commitment to doing them!)
Step 2 - Break it down:
Next, decide, which tasks/steps will take you there. Write these steps down for each goal (again all steps written increase your commitment to doing them!). Do this for each aspect of your life, e.g Health, Wealth, Relationships, FInance etc. (Girls, you can even put "Wardrobe" in ;))
Step 3 - Prioritization:
Then, simply prioritise which ones are most important to you and how you're going to schedule them e.g. Improve financial income by 15% - January; Increase jogging/classes at gym by 25% - Feb, Study new course - March etc.
Lastly make sure that what you have written down is achievable - you don't want to set yourself up for failure - set realistic goals that are SMART - specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely. Perfection is not required, just progress, remember you are a "work in progress".
